What is Wind Energy
Wind turbine, wind pump, wind engine, etc are different names of
a windmill.
India is the world’s fifth largest wind power producer and the
largest wind mill facilities in India are installed in Tamil nadu.

Wind energy types
A horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) is a types of wind turbine where the main rotor
shaft and blades are aligned horizontally and are perpendicular to the wind direction.
HAWTs are the most common type of wind turbine used for commerical wind power
generation.
Rotor blades:The rotor blades are attached to a hub and are designed to caputre the
wind’s kinetic energy. The blades are usually made of fiberglass, wood,or carbon fiber.
Rotor hub:The rotor hub connects the rotor blades to the main rotor shaft.

Vertical-Axis Turbine
A vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) is a type of wind turbine where the
main rotor shaft and blades are aligned vertically and are parallel to the
wind turbine.
VAWTs are less common than HAWTs for commerical wind power
generation, but they have some advantages over HAWTs in certain
applications.
Rotor blade:The rotor blades are attached to a rotor and are designed to
caputre the wind’s kintic energy.

Wind Turbine Genertor
The hub connects the rotor blades to the gearbox, which increases
the rational speed of the blades and transfer the energy to the
generator.
