1. Determine the volume and surface area of the given prisms below.
Triangles = ½ (b x h)
Triangular prism

= ½ (56)
9 cm
= 28 cm

cm Rectangle 1 = 10 x 8
8 cm
= 80 cm2
10 cm Rectangle 2 = 9 x 10
= 90 cm2
Surface area= 2B+ lateral area
= 2(1/2 ab)+Ph Add them all up
= 2( ½ (8)(7))+(8+9+9)(10)
SA = 28 + 28 + 80 + 90 + 90
= 316 cm2
SA = 316 cm squared
Volume= area of the base x height
= ½ ab x h
= ½ (8)(7)x10)
= 280 cm3

HOW TO SOLVE THE APOTHEM LENGHT
2. Determine the volume and Surface area
1. Find the central angle
of the given prism below.
2. Make a right angle by cutting half
Hexagonal prism of the central angle.
3. Use a trig function to find the
apothem length
h = 20 ft.
1. 360/6= 60 deg

2. 360/6= 60/2 = 30 deg

60 deg
b = 10 ft. 3. Tan 30= 5/a
a = 5/tan 30
a = 8.66
Volume = 6(1/2 ab) x h
= 3abh
= 3 (8.66)(10) x (20 )
600
= 5,196 cu. Ft.
30deg
SA= 6ab+ 6bh
a = 6( 8.66) (10) + 6 ( 10 )(20)
= 519.6 + 1,200
b = 10 ft. 5 ft. = 1,719.6 sq. ft. 7

3. Determine the volume and Surface area
of the given prism below.

9 cm c2= a2+b2
a2= c2-b2
4 cm
h= 3.46 h2= 42-22
2 cm 9 cm 2 cm h2= 12
h= 3.46
Volume = Area of the base x height of prism
= (½(b1+b2)h x H
= ½ (13cm+9cm)3.46cm x 8cm

Volume = 304.48 cm3

Surface area = 2B+ PH
= Area of bases + Perimeter of the base x height
= 2x (½(b1+b2)h + PH
= 2x (½(13+9)3.46 + (13+4+9+4) 8

= 76.12 + 240
Surface area = 316.12 cm2
