Course: BSMT (Loadicator)
Topic: _______________________
Period: 1st sem S.Y.2023-2024
Week: 8
Course Outcome

• Use stability, trim and stress tables, diagrams, and stress calculating
equipment to determine compliance with the IMO intact stability
criteria under all conditions of loading and unloading operations.

Introduction
Learning Outcomes

LO1.8. Analyze the information obtained from a stress-calculating Equipment

Topics
Stress calculating equipment (Loadicator)
Curves of Statical Stability / Stress table

Stability Instrument – required by Intact Stability code is ship specific and

the result of calculations are only applicable to the ship for which it has been
approved.

An approved Stability Instrument is not a substitute for the approved stability
booklet so as to avoid confusion and possible confusion by the operator.
.

Stability instrument is a ship specific equipment and the results of

calculations are only applicable to the ship for which it has been approved.

Ship above a specified length is required to carry a loading manual, in
which are set out acceptable loading patterns to keep shear forces and
bending moments within acceptable limits.
.

The classification society may also require a ship to carry an approved
means of calculating shear forces and bending moment at stipulated
stations. .

Loading manual and instrument, where provided, should be used to ensure that
shear forces and bending moments do not exceed the permissible limits in still
water during cargo and ballast handling..
LO1.153 Source: MV Century Wave OEC Loadmaster (NSUKK)
When loading heavy cargoes like iron ore and steels, there will be a
likelihood of overstressing the hull structure when loading certain bulk
cargoes.

Instructor to demonstrate the use of Loading computer.
(Connected to projector).

Students (25) group into 2 per computer will follow the

demonstration of Instructor.
