Rising and Falling Intonation

INTRODUCTION TO İNTONATİON

Intonation is the rise and fall of the pitch of your


voice when you speak.

• Intonation is the way we speak or the tone we


use when we talk.

• Intonation is essential because it helps us to


express our emotions, attitudes, and intentions
when communicating with others.
THE TWO MAIN INTONATION
PATTERNS
Rising Intonation:

It occurs when our pitch goes up at the end of a sentence,


indicating that we are asking a question or seeking
confirmation.

Falling Intonation:

It occurs when our pitch goes down at the end of a sentence,


indicating that we are making a statement.
THE RULES OF BOTH TYPES OF INTONATION

with your intonation. Keep practicing, and you'll
become even better communicators.
