The American fast-food hamburger chain Burger King has locations

all over the world. In 1953, the company began as a chain of fast-
food restaurants called Insta-Burger King. It had its headquarters in
Jacksonville, Florida. In 1954, franchisees James McLamore and
David Edgerton from Miami bought the business. The business
grew in the years after they changed the name to Burger King.
More than 17,800 places of business are run by the company in
more than 100 countries. Burger King has burgers, chicken
sandwiches, salads, and breakfast foods that are all cooked over an
open flame. The chain's most famous item is the Whopper
sandwich.
