TAEKWONDO BOW

Prepared by: Mr. Kimpee M. Redecio

Respect
Korean bow
Just like many Asian countries, bowing is a big part of
greetings in Korea. It's a way to show respect, say hi, thank
you, and bye. When meeting someone in an informal
setting in Korea, just a slight tilt of the head is usually ok.
This simple bow is also used when saying hello, bye and
thank you.
What is the purpose of bowing in Taekwondo?

When you bow, it signifies not only

respect for your instructors and
classmates, but respect for yourself, the
art and life in general. It is a universally
understand gesture that signifies respect
and appreciation.
What is the purpose of bowing in martial arts?

Bowing indicates that the practitioners are

alert and ready and also that they wish no
harm to their partner. Bowing after training
together shows gratitude to the other person.
Each person learns something about
themselves during training and the ending
bow is thanking the other person for the
learning.
