OR SOCIAL?
Political institutions are organizations
which create, enforce, and apply laws.
They often mediate conflict, make
(governmental) policies with regards to
the economy and social systems, and
otherwise provide representation for the
populous.
EXAMPLE:
1. Office of the President: This institution
represents the executive branch of the
government and is headed by the
President, who serves as both the head of
state and head of government.
EXAMPLE:
2. Congress of the Philippines: The
Congress is the legislative branch of the
government and is composed of two
chambers: the Senate and the House of
Representatives. It is responsible for
making laws, appropriating funds, and
overseeing the executive branch.
EXAMPLE:
3. Supreme Court of the Philippines: As
the highest judicial body in the country,
the Supreme Court interprets the
Constitution and laws, settles disputes, and
reviews the constitutionality of laws and
executive actions.
Political Structures:
1. Executive – implements and
enforces laws
2. Legislative – creates laws
3. Judicial – interprets laws and
resolves disputes
Social institutions are systems of
behavioral and relationship patterns that
are densely interwoven and enduring,
and function across an entire society.
They order and structure the behavior of
individuals by means of their normative
character.
EXAMPLE:
1. Family
2. Education System
3. Religious Institutions
4. Economic Institutions
5. Healthcare Institutions
