makes the setting interesting. Therefore, the setting occurs at no
particular time or in no particular place.

Caine.
The story depicts the Great Library of Alexandria that
stood and was destroyed during the time of Julius
Ceasar. It was one of the largest libraries in ancient
history. It was one of the institutions of Mouseion
which were built in honor of the Goddess of the arts.
However, the story Ink and Bone is set in the future
between 2025 to 2030, which is an alternate reality of
the past.
