ADVANTAGES AND

INSULATORS
ADVANTAGES OF INSLATORS
• PREVENTS THE FORMATION OF CONDENSATION ON EXPOSED
INTERIOR BUILDING SURFACES.

RELIEVES CONCENTRATED AREAS OF STRESS IN THE MEMBRANE

BY DISTRIBUTING IT OVER MORE EXTENSIVE AREAS.

STABILIZES THE TEMPERATURE OF DECK COMPONENTS

THROUGH THE REDUCTION OF TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS.

PROVIDES A FLAT SURFACE AS A SUBSTRATE FOR MEMBRANE

INSTALLATION OVER STEEL DECKS.

IN SOME INSTANCES, PROVIDES A FIRE-RESISTANT BARRIER;

AND
AVAILABILITY IN TAPERED DESIGNS TO CREATE POSITIVE
DRAINAGE IN AREAS WHERE THE ROOF DECK IS LEVE.
One disadvantage of a insulator is that it will not let
current flow if you need it to. By the same token one
advantage of an insulator is that it will not let current
flow if it tries to.
Advantages of condctors
The main advantage of stranded conductors is flexibility: they can be
bent with more freedom than solid conductors of equivalent cross-
sectional area. This benefit is particularly noticeable when installing
plug-in breakers on a circuit board, where conductors have to be bent in
90° angles to feed them through outlets for conduit.
If the stranded conductor has independently-insulated strands, a
greater conductivity is also achieved without increasing the cross-
sectional area. AC power is characterized by the skin effect: conductors
tend to carry more current close to their surface- this affects solid
conductors, as well as stranded conductors without insulation. However,
when strands are insulated, the surface area is increased and hence the
conductivity.
Solid wire is normally cheaper, since it is easier to manufacture. Also,
solid wire is more rigid and less likely to be shifted from its position. If
flexibility and sharp angles are not required, it is a viable option.
conducting materials conduct only when kept below a
given temperature called the transition temperature. For
presently known practical conductors, the temperature
is much below 77 Kelvin, the temperature of liquid
nitrogen. Keeping them below that temperature
involves a lot of expensive cryogenic technology. Thus,
conductors still do not show up in most everyday
electronics. Scientists are working on designing
superconductors that can operate at room temperature.
What are are importance of insulators and
condctors?
Conductors and insulators are both important in the
field of electronics. Electrical conductors allow electric
current to flow easily because of the make up of their
atoms. In a conductor, the outer electrons of the atom
are loosely bound and can freely move through the
material when an electric charge is applied.
