LITERATURE SURVEY
• The following reactions occurs inside the fermenter while production
of Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis:
1. Glycolysis: Glucose → Pyruvate + ATP
2. TCA Cycle (Citric Acid Cycle): Pyruvate + Oxygen → ATP +
NADH + FADH2
3. Respiration: Oxygen + NADH + FADH2 → ATP + Water +
Carbon dioxide
4. Secondary Metabolism: Various enzymatic reactions leading to the
production of antibiotics, enzymes, and bioactive compounds
5. Nutrient Assimilation: Assimilation of carbon, nitrogen, vitamins,
and minerals for cell growth and metabolism

• The number of total Rotating fans should be 3, for the following

reasons:
1. Efficient Mixing
2. Minimized Energy Consumption
3. Cost Considerations
4. Effective Heat Distribution

DESIGN CALCULATIONS
1. Calculate Fan Diameter:
Inner radius of the tank = (15.34/2) - 0.225 = 7.915 inches
Fan diameter = 2 * (Inner radius of the tank) + Thickness of the
tank
= 2 * 7.915 + 0.225
= 15.055 inches

2. Calculate Blade Width at the Tip:

Using trigonometry, the width at the tip of the blade can be
calculated as:
Width at the tip = Width at the shaft + (Blade length *
tan(Blade tilt angle))
= 1 + (Blade length * tan(Tilt angle))
REPORT - 1
8
3. Solve for Tilt Angle:
Given that the width at the tip is approximately 4.037 inches:
4.037 = 1 + (5.17 * tan(Tilt angle))
Blade length * tan(Tilt angle) = 4.037 - 1
Blade length * tan(Tilt angle) = 3.037

by using arctangent function,

Tilt angle = arctan(3.037 / Blade length)
≈ arctan(0.587)
≈ 30 degrees (approximately)

4. Calculate Sweep Area for Straight Blades:

Sweep area for each straight blade = (1/2) * (1 + 4.037) * 5.17
≈ 13.344 square inches
Total swept area by all straight blades = 12 * 13.344
≈ 160.128 square inches
REPORT - 2 9

5. Calculate Sweep Area for Curved Blades:

Width of each segment = 4.037 / 5
≈ 0.8074 inches
Height of each segment = 5.17 / 5
= 1.034 inches
Sweep area for each curved blade segment ≈ (1/2) * (0.8074 +
0.8074) * 1.034
≈ 0.836 square inches
Total swept area by all curved blades ≈ 4 * 0.836
≈ 3.344 square inches

6. Calculate New Total Swept Area:

New total swept area = Total swept area by straight blades + Total
swept area by curved blades
≈ 160.128 + 3.344
≈ 163.472 square inches

TESTING PROCESS
We plan to evaluate the performance of our fermenter by cultivating two
distinct microorganisms: Pseudomonas fluroscence and Bacillus subtilis. The
resulting biofertilizer will undergo rigorous testing within the industry's
laboratory using the renowned Dilution method.

Our assessment of the biofertilizer's quality will be based on the

quantification of CFUs (Colony Forming Units) per milliliter.

The market benchmark for these microorganisms stands at 10^6 CFUs,

whereas the industry standard, achieved through fully automated fermenters,
is set at a higher level of 10^8 CFUs.
