 The Atlas Copco kit concept
With many years of Oil injected screw compressor development
and operating experience.
Atlas Copco have determined the average failure times of all
mechanical components on any OIS screw compressor.
We have also taken thousands of customer comments and
determined what is most important for our end users.
The conclusions drawn from all this development, experience
and customer feedback is that Uninterrupted production is
paramount and with this in mind PM kits for all interventions
have been created.
These kits protect the customers production as much as
possible and also save them money with reduced interventions.

Inlet valve
The Intake valve allows
air to enter the compression element.
Failure of this valve will prevent
Load/unload or result in oil in the air filter

Oil separator
The air oil mixture enters the oil
separator vessel, and the air is separated
by mechanical impact within the separator,
centrifugal action, by weight and finally
by the oil separator cartridge.
Failure of the separator will result in high
current draw from blockage or high oil carry
over into the end users process

Minimum pressure valve

When sufficient pressure is generated
within the separation chamber, the minimum
pressure valve opens and air is delivered
to the air net.
Failure of this valve will prevent loading and
can result in too low oil pressure which in turn
can result in a breakdown of the lubrication seal
between the rotors. It can also lead to blow back from
the air net.

Moisture separator
Air passes through the after-cooler
and is cooled to 10 C above ambient
causing moisture to condense into
water droplets. The moisture separator
separates the water droplets from the air
by cyclonic action.
Failure of this valve will result in condensate
carry over to the air net and or possible condensate
in the oil system, leading to breakdown of the lubrication
seal between the rotors.

Thermostatic valve
Oil that has collected in the separator vessel
is forced by the pressure in the vessel to enter
the oil cooler. The oil temperature is controlled
by means of a thermal bypass valve.
Failure of this valve can result in bypass of
the oil cooler and subsequent high oil temps,
oil breakdown and high temp trips.

Oil filter
Prior to re-injection to the rotary screw element
the oil is filtered to remove any harmful
contaminants.
Failure of the oil filter can result in oil starvation
and high temperatures or bypass of contaminated oil.

Oil stop valve

Oil passes the oil stop valve and enters
the compression element. The oil stop valve
prevents oil from escaping out of the air intake
filter when the compressor depressurizes.
Failure of this valve can also result in no oil being
injected into the element resulting in rotor contact
& element failure.
