ZONES &
ALARMS
SET POINTS
HIGH SET POINT
Is set by pressing the
LEARN button on driller’s
control panel when the
blocks are at the desired
high stopping position.
CORNER DOWN
4’ Above high set
point will generate
alarm. The Block
Control system will
engage Baylor brake
and Friction brake to
full ON
Max Velocity
Velocity down limits
Maximum lowering
velocity is equal to the V DN HP = Value set by DAQ
lowest of these values based on thermal
characteristics of brake.
VD MAX
determined by observing block
speed during lowering tests.
Water Intake
Zone 2
ZONE “O” is the area of Hi Setpoint
operation in which a failure

of the eddy current brake Corner Up
would be of no immediate
consequence.
Zone 1
This zone exists only when
hoisting the blocks.
Zone 0
If the elevator is greater
than 5ft off the floor, but
lower than the Corner UP, it Corner Down
is considered to be in ZONE

considered ZONE “1”. 5 feet
