Eddy currents are created


when a conductor moves
through a magnetic field. The
result is a resistance to the
movement.

Eddy Current Brake
When coils are charged to create a magnetic field, the
drum (conductor) rotating through that field is
induced with electrical eddy currents which oppose
the movement of the drum (braking action).

The heat created in this process is dissipated by
circulating water through the lower part of the
housing to cool the drum.
