INTRODUCTION TO JIT HISTORTY AND BACKGROUND OBJECTIVE OF JIT IMPLIMENTATION OF JIT KEY TO SUCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF JIT DIFFRENCE BETWEEN JIT AND WESTERN PHILOSOPHY BENEFIT OF JIT CONCLUSION

JUST IN TIME

(JIT) is a management philosophy that strives to eliminate sources of manufacturing waste by producing the right part in the right place at right time.

JIT is

also known as TOYOTA PRODUCTION SYSTEM. JIT works on the principle of PULL system

JIT is

a Japanese management philosophy. which has been applied in practice since 1980 in many industry

It

was first developed and perfected within the Toyota manufacturing plants by Taiichi Ohno. Taiichi ohno is known as the father of JIT.

1.Core problem-JIT does not live with the problem but it is find out tne main cause of the problem and then attack on that problem. EX-Quality problem

waste 3.Simplfy the problem 4.Develop system to identify problem-This objective is meet with the first objective of JIT because by using these system we find the cause of the problem
2.Eliminating

 In

implimenting the JIT five steps are taken. 1st-carrying out the work. 2nd-Educating the personnel. 3rd-Achieving process improvement 4th-Achieving control improvement 5th-Establish healthy consumer supplier relationship

Reduce or eliminate setup timeThis can be done through better planning. 2. Reduce lot sizes 3. . Reduce lead times (production and delivery) 4. Preventive maintenance

5.Flexible work force-This can be done by trained the operator to operate every machine. 6.Create uniform load on all work station

1.JIT beleve in ZERO invetory but western philosophy does not 2.The lot size in JIT are small but according to western philosophy the bigger lot size are more efficient. 3.Reduce setup time in JIT but not in western philosophy.

4.Reduce lead time in JIT but not in western philosophy. 5.In IT we find the actual case of the problem and the solve it but in western philosophy the solution of any problem based on assumptions

1.Reduce setup time-By using this the setup time for any operation is reduced. 2.Employe with multiple skills are used-The employee are trained in JIT and they are used in every place where they needed.

3.Production scheduling and work hour consistency synchronized with demand-If there is no demand the production of company is stop. 4.Increased emphasis on supplier relationships-Because in JIT there is no inventory so it increased emphasis on customer,supplier relation. 5.Inventory carrying cost is reduced

From this study it is conclude that only those industry are success full in this world which provide maximum customer satisfaction at minimum possible cost . In achieving this the JIT play an important role ,because it reduce manufacturing time and waste etc.
