There are two main types

CLAY PREPARATION
There are two main ways
or methods of preparing
clay which are
(1) Dry method
(2) Wet method
CLAY PRESERVATION
Always keep the wet
prepared clay moist
and break into lumps,
covered with wet rag
and put it in a large
storage plastic
container with a lid.
USES OF CLAY
i. Clay can be used for pottery wares or works like
cups, vases, plates, fruits etc.
ii. Clay can be used to produce Sculptures
iii. Clay can be used to produce bricks.
iv. Clay can be used as medicine because it
contains vitamins and minerals.
v. Clay can be used as Chalk for writing.
vi. Clay can also be used as a source of colour for
painters etc.

INTRODUCTION TO COLLAGE
Collage is a French word meaning "to glue“.
Collage is a picture built up wholly
or partly from pieces of coloured
newspaper, magazine, cloth,
buttons etc stick with gum or
starch onto a cardboard paper.
Collage is the assemblage of
materials to create a picture on a
flat surface.
HOW TO PRODUCE COLLAGE
Cut the coloured newspaper or magazine etc
into smaller bits of rectangular shapes.
Make a design with pencil on the cardboard,
Apply gum or starch on the cardboard paper.
Stick the cut [bits of rectangular shapes]
coloured newspaper, seeds magazine,
cloth etc onto the cardboard to make up
your design.
MOSAIC
A mosaic is a piece of art or image made
from the assemblage of small pieces of
colored glass, stone, or other materials.
It is often used in decorative art or
as interior decoration. Most mosaics are
made of small, flat, roughly square,
pieces of stone or glass of different
colors, known as tesserae. Some,
especially floor mosaics, are made of
small rounded pieces of stone, and
called "pebble mosaics".

INTRODUCTION FESTAC 77
FESTAC 77 means African Festival of Arts and
Culture also known as the Second World Black.
It was first celebrated in Dakar Senegal, 1966.
The second celebration was held in Lagos, Nigeria,
from 15 January 1977 to 12 February 1977.
The month-long event celebrated African culture and
show cased to the world African music, fine
art, literature, drama, dance and religion.
About 16,000 participants, representing 56 African
nations and countries of the African Diaspora,
performed at the event.
The festival was mainly to display
Africa's cultural heritage and values
with music and dance.
Artists who performed at the festival
included Stevie Wonder from Unite
etc.
The Festival emblem was 16th Century
Ivory mask from Benin city Edo state
( former Bendel state)
The emblem was taken away by Sir
Moor and exhibited in British Museum.

NIGERIA FLAG
The Nigerian national flag was introduced on
October 1960 when Nigeria became independent.
The Nigerian flag is divided vertically into three
equal parts. The central portion is white while
the two outer parts are green.
Meaning of the colours
The green colour of the flag represents our
country’s rich agricultural resource.
The white colour of the flag represents peace,
unity and love among the people of Nigeria.

NIGERIAN COAT OF ARMS
The coat of arms of Nigeria consists of a black shield with a
wavy white pall, symbolizing the meeting of the Niger and
Benue Rivers at Lokoja. The black shield represents
Nigeria's fertile soil, while the two supporting horses or
chargers on each side represent dignity. The eagle
represents strength, while the green and white bands on
the top of the shield represent the rich soil. [1]
The red flowers at the base are Costus spectabilis, Nigeria's
national flower. This flower was chosen for inclusion in the
coat of arms as it is found all over Nigeria and also stand for
the beauty of the nation. On the banderole around the base
is Nigeria's national motto since 1978: "Unity and Faith,
Peace and Progress" (formerly "Peace, Unity, Freedom").

It is used to open up fabric for
the absorption of dye

that fixes the dye and
