What are Alternate Fuels ?

Alternative fuel also known as nonconventional fuels, that is any material or substance that can be used as a fuel, other than fossil fuels, or conventional fuels of petroleum (oil), coal, The term refers to a source of which energy is renewable.

Some well known alternative fuels include biodiesel, ethanol, butanol, chemically stored electricity (batteries and fuel cells), hydrogen, methane, natural gas, wood, vegetable oil, biomass, and peanut oil.

Need of Alternate Fuels

There is growing social interest, and an economic and political need for the development of alternative fuel sources. This is due to general concerns of sustainability, both environmental, economic, and geopolitical. A primary concern is that the fact that the use of conventional fuels directly contributes to the global warming crisis. The hike raise in the price of conventional fuels have made it impossible for a common man to purchase it

Biodiesel
Biodiesel is made from animal fats or vegetable oils, renewable resources that come from plants such as, soybean, sunflowers, corn, olive, peanut, palm, coconut,, etc. Once these fats or oils are filtered from their hydrocarbons and then combined with alcohol like methanol, biodiesel is brought to life from this chemical reaction. These raw materials can either be mixed with pure diesel to make various proportions, or used alone. Despite ones mixture preference, biodiesel will release a smaller number of its pollutants than conventional diesel, because biodiesel burns both cleaner and more efficiently. Even with regular diesels reduced quantity of sulfur from the ULSD (ultra-low sulfur diesel) invention, biodiesel exceeds those levels because it is sulfur-free.

Natural Gas
Natural gas is really a mixture of gases that formed from the fossil remains of ancient plants and animals buried deep in the earth. The main ingredient in natural gas is methane. Natural gas gives off a lot of heat and light when it burns, but doesnt produce smoke. Natural gas is a popular fuel choice because it burns cleaner, hotter, and brighter than other fossil fuels like coal and oil
