Present to the City Council for action agreements to bring 180,000 square foot retail space(s) and housing to the International Extrusion property and along the Fremont Corridor.

Revised to March 25, 2013. Developer is not ready to present the proposed plan at this time.

2. Feb. 10, 2013 Clean up April 1, 2013 Construction to start

Director of Development Services, working with the developer

Ensure completion of the soils clean-up and begin construction on the Casita de Zen mixed-use development at rd 3 and Main Streets.

Verbal approval has been given by the State for the clean-up. Upon receipt of written approval, the developer will initiate construction. Construction is estimated to start April 2013.

3. Jan. 15, 2013

City Manager and Director of Development Services, working with the property owner

Facilitate a lease agreement for the Rioni Building to a major national tenant.

The tenant is no longer interested in the building.

4. Feb. 28, 2013

Director of Public Works and Director of Development Services

Investigate the possibility of designating and implementing a shuttle service along Main St. during lunch hours to promote the use of local restaurants and businesses in the downtown and present a recommendation to the City Manager.

Identify tenants and facilitate securing leases for the former Hallmark store, the vacant furniture store at 127 Main, the Wedding Shop, and the furniture store at 30 E. Main.

Identify a tenant and facilitate a lease agreement for development of the property between Palm and Raymond Avenues, north of Pepper Street.

Have plan check completed and construction begun on the Alhambra Pacific Plaza.

Plans submitted on November 30, 2012. Grading plan check completed and sent back to the architect for revisions.

Present to the City Council for action an economic development agreement with the property owner to sell and develop property at Date and Commonwealth Avenues.

EDA approved by CC on Jan. 14, 2013.

9. April 15, 2013

Identify tenants and options to enhance the property, move the project forward and submit a Rehab and Development Agreement to the City Council to develop the Alhambra Place Shopping Center.

Outreach to at least 10 bio-med/bio-tech industry firms to bring jobs to the city and report the results to the City Council.

One firm has contacted via email. We are attempting to assist with the information they need to find an appropriate site.

Implement a campaign to encourage Neighborhood Watch groups and other residents to report any issues that impact the safety of their neighborhoods.

Dont Ignore It, Report campaign is being started. Marketing materials and plans being developed. Media campaign to take place in Feb/March 2013.

Mayor Messina and the City Manager

Schedule a meeting with the School District (reps from both agencies; Superintendent and School Board President) to discuss issues of mutual concern.

Due to the Holidays, a meeting will be scheduled by January 31, 2013.

Chief of Police, working with existing Neighborhood Watch groups

Provide an educational session to inform residents of new and evolving safety concerns to the community.

Plans for a community forum are being considered. Dates and locations are being planned for community meetings three such meetings in 2013.

4. April 15, 2013

Director of Community Services and Mayor Messina

Investigate the feasibility of using the southern portion of the Edison easement on Raymond Avenue between Vine and Cedar Streets to convert to a community garden and make a recommendation to the City Council for direction.

According to the SCE representative Edison no longer allows community gardens on easements due to the large number of variables beyond Edisons control. Some of the issues cited by SCE include difficulty for SCE to manage; lack of control of plants and insects attracted to the plants; lack of control of the types of structures erected; lack of control of noise (music and other types) that can be disruptive to the neighbors.

Director of Community Services and Mayor Messina, working with outside entities

Determine the feasibility of constructing a dog park and make a recommendation to the City Council for direction.

City Council reviewed the locations identified as possibilities and determined that the only location that might be suitable is at New Ave and Adams St and is partially owned by the City of San Gabriel. San Gabriel staff has not responded to Alhambra staff regarding this possibility.

6. April 15, 2013

Chief of Police and Mayor Messina, working with residents

Expand the number of Neighborhood Watch groups in the city by at least five.

Outreach is being done to solicit block leaders and captains. Recruitment and discussions are occurring with area residents. One such group has been organized for the Downtown area.

7. April 15, 2013

Mayor Messina and the Vice Mayor

Develop and recommend to the City Council for action a campaign to get the students in Alhambra to support the completion of the 710 Freeway.

Presented to City Manager plans to move furniture from closed areas to public areas. More single user computer table space and teen area tables have been put in place.

Contingent upon available funding, install a new scoreboard at the Granada Park Baseball Field.

The contract is fully executed for installation. Rain saturated fields delayed the project. Staff is working with the contractor to get the trenching completed before another storm.

Determine the feasibility of expanding bus service to south of Valley Boulevard and report the results to the City Council for direction.

Release a Notice Inviting Bids for replacement of the golf course irrigation jockey pump.

Staff has received the specifications for the equipment needed and is assembling the NIB.

Explore the possibility of using underground parking at the library for valet or controlled parking when the library is not in use and report the results to the City Council.

Complete the citys Energy Efficiency Chapter of the Climate Action Plan.

The final draft of the EECAP will be presented to the City Council for their consideration on January 28, 2013.

Develop and present to the City Council for action an IT Master Plan for day-to-day operations.
