GUIDE: MANJU DOMINIC

OBJECTIVE
Planning-Detailed planning of cricket stadium and drawing of the plan in AutoCAD Analyzing the cricket stadium using STAAD.PRO V8i Design of the R.C.C Structure using limit state method

PLANNING
The dimensions of the cricket pitch according to the standards should have 21m length (22 yards) and 3m width. The radius of the outer ground must be 75 yards from one end of the pitch. And so the radius of the outer ground is 75m (150m diameter). The fence of the cricket ground is around this diameter. An allowance of 6m is given for drainage, electricity, dugout etc. Total area of the stadium is 38,464m i.e 9.5 acres

12 entrances /exit are provided around the circular stadium- 4.5m wide. The entrances are provided in the N, NNE, ENE, E, ESE, SSE, S, SSW, WSW, W, WNW, NNW The seating arena between entrances are divided into zones A, B, C, D etc where the spectators will be seated.
The zones A and B are in between the two entrance gate 1 and 11 and are exclusively provided for the Players, Team Owners and Managers, BCCI and VIPs.

GROUND FLOOR
Consist of eight rises. 5.0m wide hallway is given for air circulation and easy exit in case of emergency. consist of the 1st and 2nd Umpires room The Press Box is placed to the left of the Umpires room. A lift is provided exclusively for the Office staff, President, VIPs etc to go to the 1st floor.

The dope test rooms are placed to the right of the Umpires room- one for each team. Players waiting room are placed for both the team. A medical zone is provided The rest of the space in the ground floor will be utilized as Sports related Retail Shops and Offices The ground floor has a capacity of 6,100 spectators.

FIRST FLOOR
Seating tiers consist of five rises. A railing of 0.90m height is given across the end of this flight for safety purpose. The 1st floor box arena consists of the 3rd Umpires room which is in line with the pitch The Commentators Box is provided to the left of the Umpires room. Other boxes such as Presidents Box, Corporate Box, BCCI Box and Golden Box are provided for the respective people with their lounges.

Hospitality is provided for each box. Locker room with Gym, Shower and Lounge are for both the teams. Private Box (rental) and Golden suite are also provided in this floor. Various Shops and Restaurants are placed around the 1st floor The 1st floor has a capacity of 4000 spectators.

SECOND FLOOR
Seating tiers consist seven rises. Spacing of 1.30m is provided with a railing 0.90m high for convenience and safety. This floor is ideal for huge halls such as Conference Halls, Wedding Hall, Cinema Hall, Recreational Hall and Exhibition Hall. The 2nd floor has a capacity of 5900 spectators.

THIRD FLOOR
fourth seating tiers consist of 12 risers. Spacing of 1.30m is given before the first rise for convenience and safety. Spacing of 1.50m is given at the end of the 12th rise with a 0.90m high railing for safety. The 3rd floor can have a capacity of 11000 spectators. The total capacity of the stadium is 27,000 extended to 30,000

ANALYSIS OF THE CRICKET STADIUM

The analysis of the structure is done using STAAD.PRO V8i STAAD.PRO is a leading structural analysis and design software from Bentley It is the professional choice for steel, concrete, timber, aluminium and cold formed steel design of virtually any structure including culverts, petro chemical plants, tunnels, bridges, piles and much more

BASIC ACTIVITIES WHICH ARE CARRIED OUT TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL

Model generation Creating structural geometry Input file Using STAAD GUI Using wizard Defining member cross section properties Defining material properties

Specifying supports Applying loads Adding the analysis and design specifications Perform analysis Result obtained Graphical verification-form result menu bar Numerical verification-output file Report generation

LOADS CONSIDERED
Wind Load IS 875 part 3 Kerala is under category II Seismic Loads Trivandrum is under zone III classification Load applied according to the IS 1893 part 1 Live Loads Using IS code 875 part-2(live loads) Our structure is under the classification of assembly buildings and the maximum pressure on the slab is taken as 5 KN/m2 Dead Loads Using IS code 875 part-1(dead load)

DESIGN OF THE CRICKET STADIUM

The design of the cricket stadium will be done manually using limit state method. The different structural members will be designed using IS 456-2000 and SP-16.

CONCLUSION
Detail planning of the cricket stadium has been done The drawings of the plan and layout have been made in AutoCAD. The structural analysis has begun and the model of the cricket stadium is generated in STAAD.PRO V8i and a 3D view of the cricket stadium will be obtained. The analysis will be done using STAAD.PRO V8i. The design of the structural members of the cricket stadium will be done manually.
