It saddens me to announce the retirement of Virginia Smith as Administrative Secretary of First Baptist Church.

Virginia tenured her resignation effective March 15. She has faithfully served in this capacity for almost 14 years, but she has been so much more than a secretary. Virginia has been a confidant to the staff, a counselor to the congregation and a Christian witness to the community. I am sure you will join me in saying that we can replace the position but we can never replace the Person. THANK YOU VIRGINIA!!! I am happy to say that Virginia will continue as Church Clerk and Sunday School Teacher. This is D-NOW WEEKEND, and our Youth are excited and ready for the big event. Over 100 youth have signed up through our church for this event that will culminate in worship here on Sunday Morning. I am praying, and asking you to pray, for the events of this weekend. Many lives have been changed through D-Now and I know this will happen again this year. Pray for the host homes, the college volunteers, the workers who will cook and transport the youth, and for the Youth themselves. Lets ask God to pour His Spirit upon this meeting. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!

Ride Alongs Needed Sunday morning van riders are needed! I am looking for individuals who don't mind riding along to pick up and drop of children once every 1-2 months. You are not asked to drive, simply help the kids on and off the van, keep a tally of the kids and make sure they are buckled up. Requirements are 25 years of age, valid GA driver's license, FBC church membership, completion of a background check authorization and compliance with the Safety and Health Policies of the FBC Children's Ministry Calling all travelers! I am collecting the travel size shampoos and shower gels for a North American Mission Board Missionary as a project for our children's ministry. If you have these stashed away from all your overnight stays in hotels, please bring them to the church office by February 19. They will be used for a homeless shower station in the heart of downtown New Orleans. Thank you! Sharing Sunday School LOVE If a child in the preschool or children's department brings an unchurched friend (not a member of another church or does not regularly attend any other church) to Sunday School during the month of February, that kiddo and their friend will receive a special treat.
