Mary Volmer, the faculty advisor to St. Marys Rotaract Club addressed the club and asked for our support and help with their Rotary Work Day project,Celebrate Literacy!. The Rotaract Club is sponsoring Moraga Family Literacy Day at St. Marys College from 10AM to 12PM at Dante Hall Rooms 215 and 220. Fun for kids ages 2-8 and their parents. Bring two new or used childrens books one to swap and one to donate!! Bring kids and grandkids to the event or come and help out for two hours!!

Cliff Dochterman has been named Citizen of the Year by the Moraga Chamber of Commerce! There will be a nd dinner honoring Cliff on Friday May 2 beginning at 6PM. President Nora talked about a recent presentation from members of Orinda Rotary Club about a new project called Lamorinda Village. This non-profit organization will provide a support community for seniors that hopefully will allow them to stay in their homes longer. This subscription based, self-sustaining organization will provide volunteer assistance, a services referral service and transportation services . The board offered a $3000 donation to get this effort off the ground.

Dianne Wilson celebrated her 32 wedding anniversary on April 3rd. Dianne said that she and Clyde have not had time to have a formal celebration but they will get around to it soon!! Frank and Linda May returned from a long weekend trip to Las Vegas to visit thir kids and grandchildren.

Herb Wehmeyer offered a buck for getting back an unexpected IRS refund for $120. Gary Irwin offered a Happy Buck for his neighbor, rd Sally Lentzs success in placing 23 out of 800 women participants in the Boston Marathon. Cliff Dochterman offered a happy Buck for his chance as a Past President of Rotary International to attend and speak at the Dictrict Conference in New Jersey. A chance to visit the Garden State!! Nora Avelar offered a Happy Buck for a great weekend that she spent in Monterey with her fianc, Daniel Martin, and some of their friends. Doug Damaschino offered a buck for recent wins by the Sharks in the hockey playoff games.

membership we discussed the availability of E-Clubs to attend Rotary online, the monthly socials and the importance of women in Rotary today. Roger Poynts commented that the Moraga Juniors might be a source for new women members. The club needs to reach out to Campolindo High School to attempt to build a better relationship with the school. We discussed the speech contest and the Interact Club as possible programs in the school. Memorials for Mary Elena Dochterman were discussed including both a scholarship at Campolindo and a memorial bench at the Moraga Country Club. Employee of the Month Kevin Reneau discussed the need for more nominations for this popular award. Nomination forms are available as an attachment to this newsletter email and on our website. We discussed several organizations, including the fire department, as sources for nominees. So ask your favorite business to nominate someone. Another multi-club FAB Five event was discussed, a Picnic in the Park at the Lafayette Reservoir stage th on July 19 . Our meeting ended with Doug Damaschino holding the winning ticket. Doug was Oh, so close!!

Several topics were discussed including: Community Faire Gary Irwin passed around a signup sheet for this upcoming event. He also explained that we need to recruit a new chair for the event next year. LMYA Kickoff Event Kevin Reneau stated that we will know if this event will occur this year in a week or so. Field Day There will be a meeting this Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM at John Ericksons house to discuss the upcoming Field Day. Come out and help us streamline the organization of this event. Rotarian Barbecue In past years, we have offered an evening barbecue on the campus of St. Marys for our local Rotaract and Interact clubs. Debbie Roessler will look into whether we can schedule this event in a few weeks before the students leave campus for the summer. Membership Under the general topic of

During the Club Assembly today, there was a discussion about extending the Last Friday of the Month Social next month. When asked if the event could be at his home in June Cliff Dochterman answered Why Not? As we move forward in the coming months, Why Not? will be the right answer when we are all asked to help out at the OMPA Swim Meet, the Athletic Field Day or next years Nite at the Races. So when you are asked to help out or chair an event, please answer Why Not?
