2014 Kansas State Chess Championship

Kansas University, Kansas Union 1301 Jayhawk Blvd., Lawrence, KS 66045 Open to any student of a Kansas School or Kansas student resident Registration: Online registration on the KSCA website or by clicking here at STATE REGISTRATION by Saturday, March 1, 2012. Please check in 4th Floor Lobby, that is the registration site for the tournament. Please register after you qualify for state. If you are using Saturday March 1, tournament to qualify, you may register after the tournament by the end of the day. Players who have a Q under Title Ttl are qualified. Please check database for current status. Please note, database will not be updated for March 1 tournaments on Saturday but should be by Monday for posting of sections. Registration will be closed all day on Sunday. Any player who registers as a new player will be deleted from the registration. Entry Fee: K-12: $20 for non-USCF members, $10 for USCF members. K-8, K-5, K-3: $10 per player. Please note K-3 section will be USCF rated. Pay during check-in, make checks payable to KSCA No on-site registration. If your USCF is current, please enter USCF ID number with section information. If you are not a USCF member, please fill out the USCF Membership Information part of the USCF form and bring with registration or you may fill out information online Form is here at USCF Paper form or you can fill out online at USCF Online Form KU has other events in the building that day. Any children disturbing other event areas will be removed from the tournament. Parents, please help monitor children and keep children away from disturbing any other activities. The KSCA appreciates that KU is allowing us the use of this facility for our state tournament. Qualifications: K-12: Must earn two points at two KSCA rated tournaments K-8, K-5, K-3: Must play in at least two KSCA rated tournaments. In the Title section in the KSCA database you will have the following: Q = qualified (2 tournaments) P = partially qualified (1 tournament)

Format: Sections: K-12, K-8, K-5 K-3

Location: Ballroom & Parlors Jayhawk Room

6 round swiss, game/25 5/sd , 1st round begins at 9:30 am Rounds times will be posted/announced by sections TDs. Round 2 starting time will be posted at the beginning of Round 1. Round 3 starting time will be posted at the beginning of Round 2 Etc. Players will be instructed at the beginning of each round to write starting time on scorebook. Online Corrections: Entries will be posted live as you register. See registration page. Players who register as new players will be ignored/(not registered) Sections with players entered will be posted on Monday, March 3, 2014. Please send corrections, to me by Wednesday, March 5, 2014. I will post team pages for registration online on Friday, March 7, 2014. Please do not email corrections after that, items will have been printed for TDs

Check-in: Only Coaches (Adult responsible for team) may check-in from 8:00-9:00 am Coaches pick up team roster (or online) to facilitate check-in. Check in is done by team coach, not individuals, please have payment ready. Please arrive early, check-in will be closed at 9am Any team not checked in by 9am may not be paired for round 1 There will be a quick registration for coaches who have payment attached to team registration ready to go. Exact payment required. Please make any corrections to players name, school, grade on team sheet. No section changes at state. Byes: Players may request one 1/2 pt bye for rounds 1, 2, 3, or 4 if done so with online registration. Put requested byes in section when registering. ie K-12, bye Rd 2. Concessions: Concessions will be available on site. Equipment: Please bring boards and clocks. See Jane Thompson for help in placing equipment in K-3 and Rich Gill for others. Scorebooklets will be provided. Pens/Pencils will not be provided

Parking: Available at the Mississippi Street Garage north of the Kansas Union at $1.25 per hour or with applicable permits. Fees are assessed 24/7. There is also off-street parking possibilities.
