PASTOR'S PONDERINGS
'*We were therefore buried with Him through
oaptism into death in order that, just as
Ihrist was raised from the dead through the
^lory of the Father, we too may live a new
Life." (Romans 6:4)
lo you enjoy waking up in the morning? If you
talk to most people many of them do not like
to even think about it. To many the world is
In such a mess they do not want to even face
the daily routine of going to work coming
lome and wrestling with the kids and just the
thought of everyday living.
Xir scripture verse seems to have the solution
to some of the problems of today. Submit to
the Lord Jesus Christ and follow His way and
these everyday problems will be a lot easier
to bear. Each day can be just like you have
started over as a baby being bom. Life can
as some say "a drag" as we are carrying around
i lot of problems that should not even con-
tem us as individuals. Granted many of the
problems we have in the world have been with
js for a long time but we must be patient if
re are going to find the solutions to these
problems. They must rest in the Savior being
i vital part of our life and we can only come
:o that point by realizing that if we have
)een baptized into Christ we are a very vital
)art of His Life also. Jesus challenged
^eter to "feed the sheep" and we must be a
d.lling shepherd of the Word of God and share
:he Word with those whom we meet everyday so
:hat we can live in the "New Life."
Vloha In Christ,
foe Sholtis
'For God so loved the world that he gave His
)ne and only Son, that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish bub have eternal life.

BIBLE CLUB STARTS
I Corinthians 13:13 "and now these three re
main: faith, hope and love. But the greatest
of these is love." This verse was memorized
by the five youngsters attending Bible Club
on Wednesday, January 8. Those who can say
the verse next Wednesday will earn 10 points
towards their goal of 100 points and a prize
of their choosing. They can also earn points
for coming each week, attending Sunday School
and bring others to Bible Club.
There has been no Bible club since our summer
Vacation Bible School last summer, but now we
are ready to begin again with new lessons and,
we hope some new children. So let us all be
inviting children to attend this learning and
fun hour each Wednesday afternoon at 3:00pm.

"GOD'S HOUR"
7:00PM on Wednesday Evening is a great time in
the Lord. Come and study with us as we leam
more about the Scriptures and how we can better
serve the Master.
KiiAblNb AiNiO PRAYER REQUi
We are keeping tract of our Bibit
and the chapters that are read each w. i.
and we are asking that you please fill
out the slip that will be in the Bullet
in each week. If there isn't one there
are others at the bottom of the Bulletin
Board. We also have a space there for
your Prayer Requests. Many times we
feel that we do not have to tell others
but there is strenght in numbers and
many times it is spiritually helpful to
know that other Christian Friends are
praying with you about someone or some
problem that has been bothering you. So
take a little time to fill the slip out
and place it in the Offering plate as it
is passed around.
HELP NEEDED!!!!!!
As you can see our "grass" has gotten out of
hand and we could use a little help from scsne
of you. The church lawn mower has finally
decided to quit on us. Our friends who are
using the building have taken care of part of
the church property and our neighbors have
been very helpful in getting some of the other
parts cut but we still need to do the part
around the Church building and parsonage. If
you can help please let your minister know and
we will try to get the place back in shape.
We also need folk to help and clean the church
building and restrooms.

WAIA.NAE, HAWAII: Hurrlcaie Iniki hit Hawaii on September 11. Major damage was
sustained in scattered pockets on Oahu, especially all along the Waianae coast.
14
The only congregation of our brotherhood in the area is the Maili Christian Church.
It is separated from the ocean by a row of houses and a four-lane highway, so it
was spared the high surges of water which covered the highway in many' places.
However," it was not spared the high winds. The chapel was blown off its supporting
posts and sank to the ground. In the settling, it broke an ouside water faucet
causing a major leak. The building is so old and termite eaten it is not feasible
to have it raised and reposted. A new structure will be required.
The parsonage itself was not damaged, but the lanai attached to the back of it
lost its roof. Now the screened windowsmder it are without protection.- It had
been hoped at one time to use that lanai area for a preschool, but it needed too
much repair. A new structure could be so designed to serve as both worship area
and preschool.
The educational building escaped with only loss of power and telephone. Even
wHdiout these "necessities" it was possible to hold the Sunday morning worship and
classes there.
Insuirance is unobtainable on such old buildings, so help will be needed to
rebuild. This has always been a mission congregation with about six families now
attending. Both the minister and his wife work at secular jobs. Contributions
may be sent to Maili Christian Church,(^foseph A. Sholtisrl^nister, P. 0, Box 612,
