A Shout Out
There is a popular
new phrase in the
lingo of our land – a
“shout out,” meaning
to say a good word
about a person. We
unashamedly shout
out about our recent
Kidz Quest children’s
program (also known as Vacation
Bible School). Utilizing a sailing and
expedition theme, we had a wonderful
week which averaged around 800 a
day and saw approximately 70 public
professions of faith in Christ among
the children. I thank God for our 200
workers who served tirelessly and
faithfully for our children and their
families. Of course, there is a big shout
out for our Associate Pastor in Children’s
Ministry, Larry Rigley.
I also want to give a shout out for
Kevin VanDuser, our Associate Pastor
to Middle School students, who had
a wonderful week during Kidz Quest
for 5th & 6th graders. Kevin and Jodi
have served with us for nine years and
are greatly loved. They have been a
great blessing to my own two younger
children and to countless others. Coach
V has been a mentor and father figure
to many. Whether baptizing in the
worship service, teaching at a camp,
serving as a chaplain with a high school
football team, or leading our kids to
Student Life University, he has always
been a joyful witness and example.
Kevin and Matt Jansen also deserve a
great shout out for their work with our
Sports Outreach Ministry, which has
been blessed with hundreds of youth
and children participating and over
400 families involved. Matt has brought
his outstanding coaching skills to
bear on this work, but he feels led to
concentrate on coaching and teaching
at First Baptist Academy. Kevin has a
heart for a wider ministry to children
and youth of all ages and to their
parents through recreation, the Sports
Outreach Program, and various other
activities. The Personnel Committee
and I feel led to move him into a new
ministerial position which will further
develop this ministry.
We are grateful that Kevin and Jodi
will continue to serve with us, but this
means that we will look for a new staff
member to lead the Middle School
ministry. Kevin also has a great heart
for discipling dads and coaches. His
background in college athletics and as
a high school coach is indispensible.
Naturally, he will not let go of the
Middle School ministry until a new,
qualified youth minister has been
called. This will challenge him to doing
double duty and demand that we pray
much for him, these ministries, and
the staff search. He will also help us
in pastoral care and assist with Senior
Adult activities and “other duties as
assigned.”
May we pray for these unique ministries:
“I will cry to God Most High, to God who
accomplishes all things for me” (Psalm
57:2). May we remember Isaiah 12:6:
“Cry aloud and shout for joy, for great
in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

Summer Camp is in session and going strong. There are still some
openings. M any great ac tivities are
planned. Some include Wannado City, ice
skating, bowling, King Richard, Sun ’n Fun,
roller skating, etc. If you have any questions,

KIDZTOWN
The week of Kidz Summer Quest was a huge success. Seventy children
came to know Christ as Savior and eighteen individuals indicated that
they had trusted Christ as Savior during our family night. Over 800
people attended during this very
special “Vacation Bible School”.
Over $5000 was raised to support
the Children’s Malnutrition
Center in Guatemala.

All this was made possible by

the grace of God and because
of the faithfulness of those who
volunteered before, during, and after the weeklong event. We, in the
Children’s Ministry, are grateful to God and to you. Each of you is a
blessing!!! To God be the glory!!!
 Preschool Helper Needed
This time of year many of our regular
teachers and helpers go away for vacation.
However, over three hundred Preschoolers
are still at church each weekend. Would you
be willing to serve in the Preschool during a
Worship Service or BLG hour this summer?

Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered
recovery program for overcoming hurts,
habits, and hang-ups. We meet on
Thursday nights at 6:00 p.m. in the
Student Center. Celebrate Recovery has
groups for both men and women dealing
with alcohol/chemical dependency,
codependency, sexual addiction, and
