Description The South Park Information and Resource Center ( SPIARC) is multi-lingual
of the resource center with the goal of connecting the people who live and work in
Center the neighborhood with each other and with the information and services they
need. The Center serves as a community hub for information and referral
services to resources and systems that support the healthy development of
families, children and youth; and enhance the safety and vitality of the
neighborhood. The value of the Center is that an individual seeking
assistance is not encumbered with processes or language barriers, and can
be quickly directed to a solution for their respective problem. As such, a well
trained and experienced staff must be maintained.

The SPRIC Information specialist will be supervised by the SPIARC Board and
will be providing direct service to the clients served at the South Park
Information Center including the following duties:
Position Duties • Provide information / referral and advocacy to clients
regarding housing, legal issues, medical care and other
community resources; provide linkages to community
agencies/ community partners
• Respond to Spanish-speaking callers providing crisis
intervention, safety planning and support
• Research and maintain resource information specific to
Spanish-speakers as well as other communities and
distribute to staff/program participants
• Provide advocacy services to selected program participants,
one-to-one or in groups
• Network with other agencies to maximize available services
for clients, including community members who do not
speak Spanish or English.
• Become familiar with the South Park Action Agenda and
help Project Manager promote community empowerment
and involvement.
• Provide insight to staff and Board on cultural issues
• Interpret and Translate when needed.
• Input client tracking data into program database
• Other duties as assigned

Required The perfect candidate will have the following qualifications:


Qualifications -Bilingual Skills – speaking and writing ( Spanish – English)
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal
supervision, use good judgment, maintain confidentiality, and
prioritize work load.
-Effective organizational and time management skills
-Excellent interpersonal communication skills
-Must be able to work in a team environment and operate in a
busy shared office space

Equipment /
Technology -Computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, )
Qualifications: -Proficient in the use of technology, including email, data systems
and web-based learning tools

Desired Qualifications • AA Degree


• Casework experience highly desired
• Experience working with English language learners preferred
• Experience working with multicultural, multilingual preferred

Position • Maintain ongoing collaborative communication with other


Requirements social service agencies
• Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly staff
training/meeting, annual staff/board planning days,
quarterly all provider meetings as necessary to network
easily with other SP providers.
• Volunteer management/ recruiting.
• Collaborate with Project Manager to develop projects and
best practices for the center.

10-1 (M-Th) if the SPIARC office is closed you can drop your application into our
mail slot in our front door (Same door as the Primavera Salon). Make sure the
envelope is labeled “Attention: SPAA”. If the Salon is open you may come in and
leave your application on the Program Managers desk located in the South/East
corner of the room in front of the wooden wall divider.
