 Aims and Objectives

• Continuation of the MBRS Synoptic Monitoring Programme (SMP).

• Daily bird monitoring

• Incidental sightings programme

• Continuation of weekly beach cleans monitoring waste composition and

trends

• English language and environmental education classes to the people of

Mahahual

• Continuation of the National Scholarship Programme at Punta Gruesa,

whereby GVI Punta Gruesa accepts Mexican nationals on a scholarship basis
into the expedition

Thanks to all your hard work, this phase we have:
•32 monitoring boats
•148 training boats
•35 benthic transects - equivalent to 1 km
• 632coral colonies monitored
•Started Seagrass monitoring for the FIRST time at Punta Gruesa
•60 fish transects - equivalent to 1.8km
•804 tanks used
•Over 800 fish identified and monitored
•Approx 1,400 Turtle eggs laid.
•12 lion fish caught and killed
•1 leather back turtle spotted.
•1500kg of fruit and veg
•100kg of porridge
•Dave threw up 16 times in one day.

for regional management decisions.
