Week 3 Assignment

School Vision:
To ensure that all school members develop the passion for lifelong learning in a safe environment.

Inquiries: The research topic that I will propose is The Benefits of Standardized Dress in our schools. I will, through my research,
determine if standardize dress has any influence on academic success in the classroom. The recent progression of our school community to
Title 1 and a heavily economically disadvantaged demographic, have led to the debate/question of whether a standardized dress code would
benefit all of our demographics and decrease some of the emerging gang signs and symbols we have had to deal with in our school. The goal of
this action research project is to evaluate, through activities listed below, whether a standardized uniform or dress code would help create a sense
of order; teamwork; community; cohesion and a positive school climate, thereby producing student success at a high level and eliminating massive
discipline issues.
Does it influence the behavior and academic success or lack of success in the students of our campus?
Will instituting a standardized dress code, change the culture of creativity of our Arts Academy?
Can we build a consensus, and find common ground to implement change that everyone can believe in and that will affect the lives of
our students, for the positive, for years to come?

Goal: The purpose of this action research project is to establish a safe, learning environment, where everyone is involved, engaged, achieving at
a high rate, and in the outcome become life long learners.
