Larry Huber
has visited with us severaltimes in recent weeks. Sunday, aftermeeting with our elders, it was an-nounced that he is now part of the Leba-non Road church of Christ. We arepleased to welcome Larry, as he placeshis membership with us. I know you willmake him feel welcomed. We look for- ward to working along-side our brother inChrist.I will be away for a few days this week. Each year in Sevierville, there is a series of lec-tures for all members
of the Lord’s Church(not just a “preaching lectureship”) called
Polishing the Pulpit. Each year, this event has grown, and this year, about 2000 areexpected to be in attendance. I havebeen asked to lead singing two times andalso speak twice. While I am looking forward to those opportunities, I ammore excited about learning from some
great teachers of God’s Word in many
classes. These events are tiring, because we at-tend many classes each day (about 7daily), and each class is packed with help-ful information. But, when we return, weare filled with enthusiasm to serve Christ in even greater ways. I hope you willthink about attending this event in 2011.It costs somemoney, but youcan go just for part of it if you wish. There are classesfor members, la-dies, elders, dea-cons, youth work-ers, preachers, children, and lead-
ers’ wives. Also,
daycare is pro-
vided throughout the week. I’d love for
Lebanon Road to have a good numberattend and learn together in 2011.Make sure you have October 3 circledon your calendar. On that day (and the weekend), we will have our Mission Em-phasis Weekend when each of our mis-
sionaries will be with us. You won’t want
to miss it.

Current Resident or
Welcome, Larry
Brother Mike’s words are sobering, but honest. Having
been to Scotland on two occasions, I can tell you that
“post
-
Christian” describes very well that part of the
world. As I see what led to that in history, there are sev-
eral of the same “root causes” taking hold in our nation
today.
But we don’t have to end up the same way! One person—
one soul
at a time, we can teach others about Christ. Will you tell someone about Him today?
AdamI hope that our country will never see the day whenless than 10% of our population attends worship on a regular basis or when other religions outnumber
Christianity. But even if it does, I’m more concerned
that each local congregation and each Christ take upthe charge to make a difference in the lives of othersand share the gospel message more frequently andmore personally.
Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” Ibelieve that. Don’t you?
Friends, the post-Christian era for our country willeventually be a reality. Fewer and fewer people have a
respect for the authority and truths of God’s word.
Are we ready to evangelize a world/community that
doesn’t want to follow Jesus? We’d better be!
