Are We Truly Friendly?
It is such a joy to have visitors tell
me that they were greeted
warmly upon coming to Lebanon
Road. I’ve even had a few say
that they couldn’t believe people
were really that nice!
Not all of us, though, does all we
can to be warm and inviting.
Here are some things each of us
can do to truly show others they
are welcome.
Initiate conversation. While
it can feel awkward to do so,
be the one to say “hello.”
Ask where they are from, or
what brings them to Nash-
ville. The conversation does-
n’t have to be deep or of any
great length, but it will show
your warmth.
Current Resident or
Ask them to sit with you. Yes,
that might mean that someone
else has to change seats, but
that’s okay. Many visitors are
truly worried about sitting in
someone’s place, so invite
them to sit with you.
Let them know about your
Bible class. Even if they don't
look like they are your age, let
them know that you enjoy
your class and would love to
have them sit in on it. If you
want, let them know about
other classes, as well. Many
great contacts are made in
class!
Invite them for a meal or a
visit. While many are just trav-
eling through town, or have to
catch a plane, an invitation to

Don’t be the first one to leave
the building! Take a moment
and greet our visitors. Trust
me, they notice how quickly
people “hit the doors” when
services end. Take just 5 min-
utes and meet someone.
While we are a friendly place,
there is always room for improve-
ment. Be honest with yourself,
and make sure you are talking to
and encouraging as many visitors
as you can. You may just be laying
the groundwork to convert some-
one to the Lord!
