Welcome to Ms.

Dursts Middle School Social Studies Classroom Classroom Guidelines: 1) I will respect myself, others and the property of others. 2) I will be kinder than I feel. 3) I will be prepared and participate in class. 4) I will be productive and use my time wisely. 5) I will work with others to solve problems. Classroom Procedures: When in the classroom, students should: Follow instructions quickly Enter the classroom and take their seats before the bell rings Raise their hands when they want to speak Ask for permission to leave their seats Use appropriate language (if its not in Hannah Montana, dont say it) Complete and turn in work when it is due

Procedures regarding classroom work: If a student needs assistance in any way, they should free feel to stay after school, come before school or contact Ms. Durst by email. Missed assignments will be graded 5% off, if student can turn in the work by the end of the day. Late assignments will be graded at 10% off for each day that they are late. Individual Rewards:

Students can earn rewards for good and improved behavior using a token system. Students can accumulate tokens and redeem them for various small prizes, vouchers for school sports games and gift certificates for the book fair. 1-14 tokens: Small Prizes (prizes will be have various prices so all students can redeem their tokens for a prize) 15 tokens: Voucher for school sports game or a $2 gift certificate to the book fair

Tokens can be split up among categories and students are responsible for their tokens, as they will not be replaced if they are lost. Classroom Rewards: Classes can earn rewards for participation and improved and good behavior. Points will be rewarded to classes who prove that they can work together to foster an environment that values learning and productive collaboration and discussion in a respectful setting. Points that each class has will be displayed or announced regularly so students can keep track of their progress. Rewards will be administered quarterly. 40-45 points: Treat Bags for all students in the classroom 46-55 points: Pizza Party or Ice Cream Party 56+ points: Surprise Field Trip

Consequences: Students should be aware that they are expected to follow the rules of the classroom, failure to do so will result in the following consequences. First offence: Student will receive a warning. Second offence: Student will have to serve a lunch detention. Third offence: Student will have to serve detention after school.

Fourth offence: Student will be sent to the principals office and the students parents will be notified.
