AN OUTLOOK ON CULTURAL CONVERGENCE (AN INDIAN CONTEST)

Cultural convergence can be defined as mixing up of different kind of culture to one to form a new culture which has content from the cultures which they are formed. When the good content of cultures is mixed up, we will get a better culture but when it happen other way around things go wrong. As per the country like India considered cultural convergence was something which came inside without control of its citizens. The period of British there where many people who choose life of western for living and life. Many married for sake and by sake. Then came post modernism. After World War II, we saw advancement in the field of technology, media and other such modernistic development. This was also a chance for us to know about cultures of the world and to follow. Many people choose Christianity as their religion which is also a reason for this convergence. If we go behind the reason why we adapt or adopt other culture we may find frustrated mind of Indians who follow orthodox tradition which was inhuman and meaningless. It is not that others are perfect but as we amassed on sea shore by seeing greener side far but to realize ours was better. Many people in India consider culture here is still centurys back but the real is our tradition has depth of centuries. The role of media in this convergence is very important. Media brings out the various forms of culture from outside world. We are seen many films, marketing strategies which involve the mixing of different culture. For example an Indian family having western breakfast etc.

Adaptation of many game shows and realty shows from western to Indian televisiom provides a vision of outside culture with us. We are influenced by our peer group; if we have friends of some other culture we will also adapt the same. Many persons adopt different culture for a fake identity. This is worse part of cultural convergence. We try to hide our original identity and manipulate ourselves for getting a so social value. But when we realize we are best in our own shoes we will become so week that we cannot wear our own shoe and go out for a walk. We cannot blame any institution or system for this. It is human tendency to get which we dont have and we Indians are very fine in that tendency. Every culture is good until we use it in correct time and space.
