Electronic Scriptures Policy

If you would like to use electronic scriptures in seminary, you must meet all of the following requirements. After receiving the proper initials, keep this in your folder as proof of your right to use an electronic device in seminary. 1. The device may be used for seminary purposes only. Any other use, such as games, texting, or other activities will result in the device being confiscated, and your privilege to use the device in the future will be revoked. 2. Your device needs to be out and kept on top of your desk during class just like paper scriptures. You cannot keep it in your pocket or in your lap. 3. You will not be provided with Wi-Fi access from the seminary. Your apps need to be downloaded at home. 4. You must have an app that allows you do the following, and you must demonstrate your ability to use the app effectively (see example below). a. Highlight Scriptures. b. Put notes in your scriptures c. Make notes in a journal (if using your device for your journaling.) d. Demonstrate to the teacher or a parent your ability to complete these tasks. (Initials ______)

5. If you want to use your device for Scripture Mastery, you must: (see example below) a. Have each scripture highlighted. b. Place a note at each Scripture Mastery with the reference and the key phrase. c. This must be done in a Scripture app, not in a Scripture Mastery app. d. You must demonstrate to the teacher or a parent that this has been completed. (Initials ______)

Cautions: 1- Due to the nature of electronic devices, all of your notes, highlights and data may be lost. Some programs keep a back-up online of such data or sync with other devices or a desktop computer. Check with the company to see the capabilities and limitations of your app. 2- You might not be able to use electronic scriptures on your mission. 3- Your need for electronic scriptures in seminary does not excuse you from obeying school policies regarding phones or electronic devices.
