Fullertons Friday Newsletter

September 7th, 2012
This week in reading we read Julius. This was a funny story about an Alaskan Pig. Through this story students learned the differences between reality and fantasy. Students also took the reading portion of the MAP test on Thursday. This was a difficult task that the students and the students worked really hard on it. In English we learned about the naming part of a sentence and how if a group of words does not have a who or what it is not a sentence. We sung Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar and had each student change the naming part of the sentence to practice. We also learned that in writing you should name yourself last. (Me and my mom ate ice cream. My mom and I ate ice cream.) In math we worked on more addition strategies and have started trying to memorize doubles facts. We will continue this next week by making Doubles books. Please access the second grade website by going to the Unit Seven Schools homepage, click on Unity East, choose teachers weekly news and then click on my name. This site had tons of information on it and will be updated weekly. Thank you for a great Open House turn out! It was great meeting everyone and I was overwhelmed with the amount of people offering to help out in the class this year. Have a wonderful weekend!
