The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program is funded by a $1.6 billion grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Established in 1999, the goal of GMS is to educate Leaders for Americas Future by providing eligible students with good-through-graduation undergraduate scholarships as well as the opportunity to continue through to a doctoral degree in seven GMSfunded fields. Who Should Attend? 9th-12th graders and GED recipients who are: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American 10th graders who have a GPA of 2.8 or above; 11th graders who have a GPA of 3.0 or above; and 12th graders who have a GPA of 3.3 or above, all on a 4.0 unweighted scale. (9th graders and GED recipients have no GPA requirement to attend.) Parents and guardians are highly encouraged to attend!
