Classroom News
Reading We explored the iPads this week in reading! There
is an AWESOME presentation app called Nearpod that I used to teach a lesson to the kids. We did reading, grammar, spelling, and cursive all on the iPad. It is very interactive so we took polls, quizzes, and drew responses. I was even able to share certain kids responses to the answers. They loved it! I did, too!

Writing We have free journal write this week on Japan Day

and Crayfish.

Math (Silva) Our main focus this week in math was

subtraction, with no regrouping. We went back to the basics so we can grow on our knowledge and add regrouping next week.

Social Studies Our main unit, Japan, has come to an end.

We learned so much! We will continue learning about maps, states, countries, and directions in the coming weeks. Japan ABCs are due on Thursday. Most kids have already turned them in, but some may be bringing them home for homework this weekend.

Science We received our crayfish!!!! The kids were so

excited. We have already been learning a lot about them. We learned how to pick them up, how to tell if they are a male or a female, how to feed them, and clean their bins. Next week we will work on more observations and learn their body structures.

Events from the week!

Japan Day was a HUGE success. I am sure you have been hearing stories about the stations and all the fun. THANK YOU to everyone who was able to volunteer or donate food. Pictures will be up this weekend!
