Coffee Cart Manual Project Idea

For the instructions project, we propose to produce a complete a set of instructions to assist in training new employees at the coffee cart, Java World, to make an assortment of espresso based products.

Background Java World is a small company of 12 employees that operates at Georgia Tech. Most employees are students. It is a branch of Highlands Bakery in Atlanta. The primary operation is selling coffee and coffee products. Java World also sells an assortment of soups, salads, pastries, and juices.

Problem Most of the employees at Java World are full time students who have very little free time. The employees work 2-4 hour shifts in pairs. There is often no shift overlap between sets of employees. Because of this very little training occurs and new employees are not briefed on how to make the beverages correctly. This leads to inconsistent products. Proper preparation of these beverages is critical to the success of Java World.

Solution Because of this issue we propose a set of instructions to train new employees. This manual will include: Instructions on how to properly steam milk A guide on how to prepare all espresso based beverages including: o espresso o latte o mocha o macchiato o red eye
