Industry: FMCG My Internship Role: Marketing BTL Activity My key responsibilities: Creating a route plan for Below- the- Line promotional activity of Brand Navratna, Briefing the Agencies (third party Event management Agency) and Promoters regarding the Activity and finally implementing the activity for 2150 salons, 100 factories and 3 Mandis in Delhi/NCR. The implementation involved measuring the effectiveness of below-the-line activity with respect to the reporting, trial generation, promotion and selling done by the Agency. The impact that I made: Everyone had a predefined role in the process. According to me, the impact was big because I was successful in finding the key areas where activity was not performed as per the plan of the Brand Team. The focus, belief and work ethics of the sales and brand team of Emami Limited motivated me to find the bottlenecks and loop holes in the implementation part done by the third party agency. What I learnt/Skills I picked up: 1. For the BTL activity success lies on the field- until you take up the field work the ground realities will not come up. 2. You need to constantly motivate the promoters who work for the Agency, it is better to set examples rather than just asking them to follow the guidelines. 3. Work Ethics was the key to success- the employees of Emami limited were a constant motivation in this respect. 4. A lot culture and religious issues have to be kept in mind during the plan of the activity. 5. Focus should be on building long term relationships with your customers. The best thing about the Internship: The amount of faith and flexibility that Emami Limited extends to its intern instills a lot of confidence in you.
