Measurement of manure

It is important to know how to conduct an analysis of our own manure to discover the composition of it. The first thing we have to do is to take a representative sample. The ideal is mix the manure and take the sample, but generally it is not available because to do this we need a special machine. The solution is taking it with a probe.

After we take the sample of manure for analysis, we have to transport it to an official authorized center because there is not discussion about the form to analyze the sample.

EXEMPLES DE CENTRES AUTORITZATS

As we just say, it is important that each farmer know the properties of his manure (measurement and composition), so if we ever have the opportunity to make an analysis of the manure we will study these properties: Analysis of salinity Analysis of BOD5 Analysis of the conductivity (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium)

In consequence of the quantity of suspended soil that the manure contains, the filtering task of the sample to determinate the soluble forms of the nitrogen are impossible. Therefore, the nitrogen forms determinations are made from the dilution with distilled water and later with a filtration. Many studies take into account all the chemical components of the manure, but in this project we are focused on the quantities that affect the nitrogen cycle (potentially toxic component of the slurry).

The following table shows the characteritzation about the different factors to study about the manure:
