A note from Ms. Hofer...

January flew right by, as we were busy exploring the changing elements of winter. Our sugar cube ice castles turned out great - the kids did an amazing job on them! Because of the frigid temperatures, we didn't get much of an opportunity to go outside this month; hopefully this will change in February. Please make sure you are sending ski pants with your child, as we will begin to go outside when the weather warms up.

I'm gonna wrap myself in paper. I'm gonna dab myself with glue. Stick some stamps on top of my head. I'm gonna mail myself to you. I'm gonna tie me up in red string, I'm gonna use blue ribbon too. I'm gonna climb up into your mailbox. I'm gonna mail myself to you.

The school will be hosting a Book Fair this month. If you would like to purchase anything for your child you can take them through before or after school. We will not be going as a class, but you are more than welcome to go on your own with your child. Ms. Hofer The Theme of the Month: Kindness/Diversity This month we will be celebrating Valentines Day, and focusing on kindness. We will be spending a lot of time on the Golden Rule: treat others the way you would like to be treated. I encourage you to discuss this virtue with your child at home. We will also be embracing cultural diversity as we explore the First Nations culture.

Show and Share Schedule for February

Because of the short month, those who had a show and share two times in January will not have a turn this month. They will be the first ones in March.

Valentines Day
Children love to celebrate Valentines Day, and handing out special cards has become a tradition. In class, we will be making Valentines Day bags, where the Pre-Ks will be able to store any cards they may receive. If you would like to send Valentines Day cards to school with your child I ask that you send one for each student, rather than specific children. If you are not planning to send any, that is completely fine. I also ask that you do not address them to anyone specific, as this allows the children to independently disperse them into the bags. You are welcome to sign your childs name however, so they know who the card is from! Thank you for your cooperation! Kindness T-shirts
As a class we will be designing a special T-Shirt that represents what kindness means to us. On February the 14th, Valentines Day, please send your child to school with their T-Shirt on; they will receive it the day before. I will be collecting $2.00, which will go towards the making of the shirts. Thank you for your support!

Family Day
Last month the Pre-Ks had a great time bowling. Some of them even took the lead going up against the adults! It was nice to see so many faces out, even though it was one of the coldest days of the year. Due to the Winter Break we will not be having a Pre-K Family Day this month. Stay tuned for more details regarding our March event.
