IEPs

IEPs are an essential part of an exceptional students academic life. IEPs set specific, attainable goals for these students and provide teachers and parents means by which to achieve them.

Respect
Students have a right to be respected and valued for who they are and what they bring to the classroom. I will foster an environment of respect and appreciation for all within my classroom.

Multiple Intelligences
Every learner is different. Students should be given the opportunity to learn in a manner that best suits their needs and learning styles.

Successful Inclusion

Adapted Curriculum
Lessons and assessments will have to be modified to ensure success for all. Certainly, this involves a fair amount of extra work for the teacher, but, in this case, it is a worthy effort.

Community of Learners
By creating a community of learners in my classroom, I will ensure that every child feels welcome and valuable. Students will work cooperatively to solve problems and grow as individuals.
