WATER QUALITY OUTREACH INTERNSHIP (Residential Outreach)

Date Posted: Open until filled Hours Per Week: Full Time Anticipated Start Date: Between May 1 June 16 Anticipated Length of Internship: 13 weeks Scope of Internship: One internship position is available full time. Dates of internships are negotiable, but within a May 1, 2013 through September 30, 2013 window is preferred. Applicants must receive college or university credit for internship. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONS: Assist Surface Water Management (SWM) staff with: Outreach to Snohomish County residents in the areas of natural yard care, pet waste disposal, riparian buffers, vehicle maintenance, and other practices to maintain and/or enhance water quality. Coordination with project partners to develop, implement and evaluate outreach programs Coordination of and staffing booths at local and regional public events to promote clean water quality Development and distribution of outreach materials including brochures, posters, displays, games, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Completion of two years of college or university coursework in communications, marketing, environmental science, environmental education or related fields Ability to effectively use computer for data entry and management Ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages Ability to work some evenings and weekends to staff booths at public events Possession of current driver's license Ability to report to Snohomish County SWM in Everett, WA for work Approval of internship and credits by faculty advisor

Special Abilities and Knowledge Ability to use MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
