5TH GRADE NEWS!

Dear 5th grade parents, The kids enjoyed the warmer weather this week during recess! We had quite a busy week! We only had three math classes this week due a presentation on Water for Life and Musical pictures. The orange group began chapter 16 by learning about perimeter and area of: squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles and irregular shapes. The red group continued working on chapter 11. They learned about multiplying and dividing integers, translations in a coordinate plane and reflections and rotations. In English this week, students began their unit on adjectives. They reviewed adjectives, learned about articles and demonstratives and comparing with adjectives. In Language Arts this week the students continued reading in their literature circle book, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. They are realizing how different life was during this time and how far we have come :). The kids looked great for picture day on Thursday! It was fun to see them so excited in their great costumes!
