5TH GRADE NEWS!

Dear 5th grade parents, Hopefully you enjoyed your three day weekend! The kids have been enjoying all of the snow this week during recessespecially on Friday :). In math, the orange reviewed problem solvingdeciding on reasonable answers. They also reviewed for and took their chapter 14 test and pretested on chapter 15. They learned how to estimate quotients and model decimal division. The red group also reviewed for and took a test this week on chapter 9. They pre-tested chapter 10 and began learning about areas parallelograms and triangles. In writing this week, the students worked on their personal narrative rough drafts. They also worked with a partner to revise and make improvements In English they worked on verbs focusing on contractions with not. They will have a quiz in the next few weeks. In reading this week, the students read through Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. They had some great discussions and have been making connections about that time period. Many of the students have commented on how they feel fortunate to live in a world where there is less discrimination. Stay warm and have a great weekend! Mrs. Turner
