Principles

If you wait to do everything until youre sure its right, youll probably never do much of anything. Win Borden

Perhaps the most important thing you can do to

improve your life is simply to do things. To take

action and learn along the way. Here are the 20 principles of Do that make you get things done.

1. Do.
I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do. - Leonado da Vinci If you want to get things done you have to do things. If you want big results you often have to take massive action. There is no way to get around taking action if you want real life results.

2. Dont try. Do.

Do or do not there is no try. - Yoda
By making clear choices to do or not do something and putting power behind those choices you are more likely to actually get things done and succeed.

3. Focus on what you are doing right now.

It is a mistake to look too far ahead. Only one link in the chain of destiny can be handled at a time. You cant see the whole path anyway and it will shift and reveal itself along the way. Thats why the best of plans tend to fall apart at least a bit as you start to put it into action. You discover that your map of reality doesnt look like reality.

4. Do it first thing in the morning.

By taking the first step you change your mental state from resistant to hey, Im doing this, cool. How you start your day tends to have a big influence on that day. It sets the context in your mind. I believe that one key to better consistency and improvement in your life is what you do early in the day.

5. Do it one more time.

If you get up one more time than you fall you will make it through. Doing it just one more time, doing it that extra time even though you may start to feel that this wont work, can bring the results you want in many cases. Please remember that at this point success is often not that far away.

6. Do the unusual thing.

Life becomes precious and more special to us when we look for the little everyday miracles and get excited about the privileges of simply being human Tim Hansel

Getting stuck in the same old routine until it becomes a rut can suck the life out of you. Doing the unusual thing in small and big situations, no matter how it goes, is a great way to feel alive again.

7. Do less.
You can never fit all that you want into your day or week. Do less, achieve more.

By setting limits. By being a bit ruthless and cutting down on the least important stuff. Something has to go. If spend it on the less important things then all of that will be gone each day before you get to the big stuff.

8. Do one thing at a time.

Do one thing at a time, do it well, and move on to the next item on your list. That's the best way to regain a sense of control over time. Multitasking splits your focus and leaves you with mediocre results and less enjoyment while sucking the energy out of you. When you do a thing do just that. Be there. Dont try to do something else physically or in your mind. I have found that doing this always helps me to find inner calmness again.

9. Do your best.
Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
When you do what you think is the right thing like doing your best then your self esteem goes up. So do awesome work and you feel awesome about yourself. So you go after it and you wont self-sabotage as much when opportunities pop up.

10. Do more important things.

As I grow older, I pay less attention to what men say. I just watch what they do.
Its also a good way to look at yourself more clearly. Because you can tell yourself and others all kinds of things all day. But what you are actually getting done shows a lot about who you are right now and how you future will look.

11. Do the right thing.

Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the high road to pride, self-esteem and personal satisfaction.
When you do the right thing you like yourself more and so the self sabotage decreases. What you accept or dont accept from yourself is what you tend to accept or not accept from other people.

12. Do what you want to do.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didnt do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. Mark Twain
Awesome quote. And I really dont have much to add to that one. Well, maybe to write it down and keep it as a daily reminder on your fridge or bathroom door of what you can actually do with your life.

13. Do what you enjoy.

Never continue in a job you dont enjoy. If youre happy in what youre doing, youll like yourself, youll have inner peace. And if you have that, along with physical health, youll have more success than you could possibly have imagined. - Roger Caras

When you do what you enjoy there is a natural peace that arises within. One of my favorite tips for finding things you enjoy or love doing is simply to explore life. To be curious and try things out and see what you think of them.

14. Do nothing once in a while.

Dont underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you cant hear, and not bothering. If you dont unload your mind and just relax and do nothing sometimes then life tend to get more burdensome and difficult than it needs to be.

15. Do what you think and feel is right.

I have often wondered how it is that every man loves himself more than all the rest of men, but yet sets less value on his own opinions of himself than on the opinions of others. Marcus Aurelius

By letting go of the things that dont really matter that much and instead focusing on what YOU think about things and doing what YOU think is the right thing you can save a whole bunch of time and improve your results and your self esteem.

16. Just do it. It's best not to think about it, just do it.
You should now have reduced much of the resistance within and feel more motivated to start taking action and getting your thing done. When I am at this point I usually just stop thinking and get my butt out of the chair. I get moving and I just do it.

17. Realize that you dont have to do everything you do.

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect." Mark Twain The point is to take control of your life and feel like you choose. Instead of having your world choosing and controlling your life. This makes it easier to find out what isnt really that important and eliminate or reduce to free up time for more interesting things.

18. Do step by step according to the process.

What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step. -Antoine de Saint-Exupery While doing something, you focus on the process rather than the results. Focus on the process and you will be a lot more relaxed and prone to continue than if you stare yourself blind on the potential results that never come as quickly as you want to and puts you on an emotional rollercoaster from day to day.

19. Do the useful thing.

Whatever you dwell on in the conscious grows in your experience. The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear.

You have to keep your focus and your thoughts in right place and on the positive and useful things in your life as consistently as you can. If you focus on the negative and irrelevant stuff it is quite likely that you never get all those most important things done.

20. Do good thing for your life.

The happiest people in the world are those who feel absolutely terrific about themselves, and this is the natural outgrowth of accepting total responsibility for every part of their life.

Because how you view, judge and think about people is usually how you view, judge and think about yourself. This may sound a bit weird. But try it out for a week or two and see how it affects your view of yourself and your life.

The more you like yourself, the better you perform in everything that you do.
