Lesson 16

Vocabulary:
Ako......................................................I/Me
Ay.........................................................(an article)

Note:
As indicated on the vocabulary section, the word “Ako” means I or Me.
When a sentence starts with a pronoun, such as “ako” it is almost and always
followed by an article. See the example below, analyze how the phrase
created from previous lesson turned into “I have” from “There is” by simply
adding “Ako ay.” Thus, the rule is if the word “mayroon” is preceded by a
name of a person and a pronoun its meaning changes to “have/has.”

English: I have five combs.

Short-form Tagalog: Ako ay mayroong limang suklay.
Exercise:
Please provide the plural form. Put N/A, if it’s not applicable.
