Lesson Plan Title: Thank You, Thanksgiving Date: November 9,2012 Subject: Social Studies Number of Days Covered:5 Grade Level: K-1

Content to Teach: Teaching students about the holiday and or meaning of thanksgiving. As well as having students realize they have things to be thankful for everyday. Specific Objectives: Students will be able to distinguish the difference between thanksgiving and other holidays. Students will be able to provide specific things about thanksgiving and elaborate on them. Activities: Students will look and listen to Thank You, Thanksgiving. Students will provide 6 things that they are thankful for, and we will come to an agreement on drawing one thing that we are all thankful for everyday. Assessment: Have students write a sentence on what they are thankful for under their picture. Modifications/ Accommodation: Students will have pictures as aids to remind them what thanksgiving is. Have students explain what they see and feel about the thanksgiving pictures. Connections: Students will know more about thanksgiving. They will be able to take information that they have learned and use it for future reference. Students will also know the real meaning behind Thanksgiving.
