Magazine Advert/Poster: Plan & Design

For our magazine advert, me and Ethan, for starters, need to make some link to our digipak design in order for the album to be recognizable to anybody linking it to the advert. The most likely choice to link themes and design would be to incorporate our use of dual personality and, primarily, the inclusion of the tunnel. The front cover for our digipak is more likely the focal point of our adverts design as it incorporates each one of our thematic focus points.

The use of this character could also be included in the poster, as it is the foremost noticeable thing within the digipak cover. The tunnel and light in the background are also important, as they are represented within not just the digipak but also the video, and would be a clear link to an audience.

Another effective factor, which we plan to reflect in our poster, is the presentation of Ethans shadow, which we attempted to bend in our music video. Through the use of image editing software, we can edit the shadow to give off an evil effect, perhaps to make him look more demonic. This will be use to represent the evolution, and the beast within factor. The other idea we have is to almost mould these images together, so that the blended image of mine and ethans face is centered in the middle, in the foreground of the light at the entrance of the tunnel. We can then have a shadow reflected on one of the walls, and another image on the other side to perhaps represent our actors deterioration. The text will be centered and at the top, and will likely use a simple, white font to emphasise the image and the darkness of the background. The main idea so far is for me and Ethan to link to our digipak through use of these relevant themes. We need to experiment with these ideas on photoshop to get a draft copy, and work out what needs improvement and development.
