The focus and common goal of the Vanguard Artists is to provide a venue for the critique of
artwork. The membership base is composed of artists interested in artistic development for
themselves and their peers.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2009

Please return completed application, biography and 3 4x6 photos (1 photo each of 3 different art
pieces) to your sponsor. Your sponsor will submit the documents to the Club President. If
accepted, the applicant will bring original artwork to a specified location on Monday, November 2
between 9-10 AM. After the Jury Committee has completed the process, applicant will be
contacted to pick up paintings on same day – generally about 2:30 PM. The Jury Committee will
advise the applicant of their acceptance or rejection for membership by letter within 5 days of
the jury date.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
1. Vanguards meets on the first Friday of the following months: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May and
Sep, Oct, Nov.
2. In lieu of a December meeting Vanguards have a dinner, at a nominal cost
3. Our meetings are held in the West Valley Art Museum.
4. Order of Meetings: Arrive at 12:30 PM for sign-in, business meetings begins at 1:00 PM
followed by critique
5. Annual Dues of $15 are paid in January. No exceptions.
MEMBERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Each member shall attend no less than 5 of the 8 yearly meetings.
2. Members are encouraged to bring one piece of their artwork to the meetings for critique
a. “Art in the Works” – Art in progress – Feb, Mar, Apr, Sep, Oct, Nov meetings
b. “Show and Tell” – Finished art, ready to hang – May and Jan meetings
(a and b are current guidelines and subject to change)
3. Each member will also actively participate by volunteering to serve on committees as
needed.
