All the people asked did state that there was a sense of enigma, though for various reasons. Most believed the sense of enigma worked due to the soundtrack being mysterious, however, a fair amount thought it was due to the product giving a sense of foreboding, tension and danger with the mystery created and camera angles. Nonetheless, the enigma within the opening sequence worked with the product, further adding to the conventions of a psychological horror.

Are the titles conventional to a psychological horror?

The most common reason was to reveal what was to happen next, due to the suspense caused throughout the product, this is further represented by a number of people stating that the reason why they would want to watch the product on is because it leaves you on a cliff hanger, portraying an enigma. Others stated that it was because the product is conventional to the genre. Moreover, one person did state that they would not watch the product on due to there not being enough suspense. One the other hand, a large number of people would want to watch the product on, representing that the product is conventional to the genre of a psychological horror.

A significant amount of the people asked did state that the editing pace of the film adds to the genre, this would portray that our product meets the conventions of a psychological horror, therefore, making people want to watch it more as it fits into the genre. However, three people did state that the cuts between the scenes did not add to the pace of the genre. On the other hand, this is based on person opinion, so answers may vary due to what they believe a psychological horror consists off.

The lighting of our product holds a significant impact in adding to the genre, in order to get a sufficient amount of feedback on whether the product does this we asked the audience, a substantial amount of people did state that it does add to the genre of a psychological horror, portraying that our product stays within the given conventions. However, a few number of people did say that we did not use the lighting sufficiently enough.

More dialogue to gain further knowledge of the narrative Within our product we have minimal dialogue compared to what you'd expect from an opening sequence, however, this is due to our genre and the way in which we wanted to portray a sense of enigma. A handful of our audience agreed with this as they stated that the little dialogue we have adds tension, some also stated that it leaves unanswered questions, which would want people to watch on as it leaves them on a cliff hanger. However, some people did state that there was a need for more dialogue in order to add to the narrative, so the audience are able to gain a sense of perspective of what is happening.

In order to have a narrative for a film the characters need to play a role to build up the narrative by this the audience needs to identify with them specific characters. In order to see whether our product has done this and whether the characters established a role we asked the audience. Most of the people asked stated that all characters expect from the villain were established, what the audience didnt know was that the villain will progress throughout the film. However, a few people did state that not enough information was given, though what does need to be remembered is that the product was only two and half minutes long.

Most people did state that they would not make any changes to the product as it was good and conventional to that of a psychological horror, however, a few people did state that more dialogue was need and the lighting should be more eerie in order to make it more conventional and fit in with the genre of a psychological horror. Given this piece of information there are a minute number of things we can do to improve the product such as what has been stated above. By doing this we are complying to a wider range of audiences as we are adjusting the product to there wants.

Everyone who watched our product stated that the camera/shots and angles represent the conventions of a psychological horror, portraying that no changes need to be made within this given area.

Many people stated that the mise-en-scene has set the narrative by the lighting and sound, setting and location and by the empty eerie house that they were represented with. A few people stated it was due to the cold and harsh atmosphere and a sense of isolation that makes the product relatable. This represents that our product reaches out to all areas of the conventions in a specific way to the audience.

Overall, though there are certain aspects of the product that the audience do not agree to, such as, some stated there was not a sufficient amount of dialogue, our product on the whole represents and connotes the conventions of a psychological horror. With the minute changes the audience have suggested our product would reach out to a wide range of people as the sample we had were of a mixed representative group of people with portrayed aged and above of our certification.
