ADVERBS

An adverb is a word which modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.

Examples:
a. b. c. Susan sang loudly. The man was very tall. His hand moves too quickly. Modifies verb sang Modifies adjective tall Modifies adverb too

1. ADVERB OF MANNER (HOW?)

Examples: slowly, easily, badly, well


The big boy won easily. The old lady walked slowly.

2. ADVERB OF TIME (WHEN?)

Examples: before, now, since, then, already ,soon, seldom

3. ADVERBS OF PLACE (WHERE?)

Examples: here, there, everywhere, nowhere


Wait for me here. Sue looked everywhere for her cat.

4.ADVERBS OF DEGREE (TO WHAT EXTENT?)

Examples: too, almost, quite, rather, very


He was too tired. Susan was rather intelligent.

5. ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY (HOW OFTEN?)

Examples: often, seldom, thrice, again, frequently


I rang the bell twice. Ali is frequently late for school.
