Objective:

Students will create abstract art while listening to different styles of music. Students will geometric shape (manipulative ) from their art pieces Card stock - enough for three sheets for each child Markers Different tempo/styles of music Geometric Shape Stencils Scissors Examples of geometric shapes cut from a drawing Gather Music, stencils and markers

Prep: Description:

Tell students they will be listening to 3 different styles of music while drawing pictures Explain that should draw how the music makes them feel Talk about each music piece after the students listen to it Tell students they will be using their drawing to make geometric shapes from them Show the stencils and scissors After drawing to the music, model how to use the stencil and cut the shape out with scissors Talk about each shape and give the definitions. Explain that they will save these pieces to help them understand their geometry lesson tomorrow.
